The Sierra Club is pleased to announce the endorsement of Rick Lass for PRC
> District 3.
>
> "Rick has shown he is willing and able to listen to the people. He
> understands the importance of moving as rapidly as practical to alternative
> energy sources" says John Buchser, chair of the Northern Group Sierra Club.
>
> The PRC regulates companies that produce and distribute energy,
> transportation companies, and telecommunications companies within New
> Mexico. Chair Jason Marks of Albuquerque, running for re-election and
> endorsed by the Club, has provided very progressive leadership. Mr. Lass
> has demonstrated skills in working with others, which will be much-needed
> with increasing energy costs creating new demands on the PRC to raise
> various utility rates.
>
> Mr. Lass, a graduate of St. John's College, has been involved in Santa Fe
> politics for the last decade, as well as having been a lobbyist at the
> roundhouse. These aspects of his experience should help his being an
> effective commissioner on the PRC.
>
> His competition for this seat, Jerome D. Block, has nothing on his website,
> did not answer our questionaire, and seems to have difficulty presenting
> his position on anything. "Mr. Block's misleading statements on his resume
> leave us to wonder if he will represent utility customers of New Mexico in
> the same manner" noted Sierra Club Chapter Chair Susan Martin.
